Invocations starting at 1 and Pact Boons being setup as invocations leads to a lot of fun possibilities. Invocations affecting other cantrips besides Eldritch Blast is great.
havent watched the video yet tho im guessing by the lack of people there arent any crazy changes like paladin?
I find this comment hilarious because I was saying to someone yesterday that the amount of comments is not always a good reflection of engagement because typically the more comments there are, the more people are complaining XD
That said, the premiere chat was pretty complimentary about a lot of the changes, so maybe folks will come in to say how much they like it?

I had to hide out and watch this video because I just could not wait till after work.
I LOVE everything they said about the changes but these stand out the most to me.
Archfey and Great Old One are soooo much better than they were in the 2014 PHB.
Being able to be a Melee Warlock (Pact of the Blade), have enhanced magic (Pact of the Tome) and a skeleton familiar (Pact of the Chain) all at the same time is super cool.
Invocations that used to only boost Eldritch Blast will be able to boost other cantrips now. That will make it easier to build around a theme instead of just doing the same Eldritch Blast every other Warlock is doing. That is super dope!
I only wish that the Undead and Genie patrons were updated as well. Hopefully they will come out in the next source book.

THIS excites me SO MUCH. I do love Eldritch Blast when I play warlocks, but I do love choices that give some flavor, and I'm gonna play a LOT of warlocks when the new rulebooks drop.

There are big changes from 2014, but from UA7 it's pretty much identical barring a handful of spell swaps/expansions.
No word on the casting stat so it's probably just Cha again. Sigh. Maybe we'll get Intlocks in Dalamar's Tower of Everything or something.
Expected on the INT main stat option being left out but still sad to see. After weapon masteries the CHA or INT choice for warlocks was one of the things I was most excited about from the playtests. Seems so odd that we need 4 charisma-based classes while wizards are the only ones who care about INT in the PHB (yes, I know about Artificers).

so far i have to say i like what im hearing tho one thing i caught something he said about the blade invocation stuff (8:09 in vid)"you can get to the point were you are making extra attacks" not you can use extra attack. are the warlocks if they choose getting more then one extra attack? or am i just looking to deep into the wording. could also just be another mistake (they happen) like with vengeance paladin.

Unfortunately, agonizing blast just scales better on eldritch blast than most alternatives, because it adds to each damage roll, and in tier 2+ eldritch blast is making multiple damage rolls (there might be specialized use cases for sword burst or thunderclap).

I think they are referring to Thirsting Blade invocation. In the UA it said:
THIRSTING BLADE
Prerequisite: Level 5+ Warlock, Pact of the Blade
You gain the Extra Attack feature for your pact weapon only. With that feature, you can attack twice with the weapon, instead of once, when you take the Attack action on your turn. When you reach level 11 in this class, this Extra Attack confers two extra attacks rather than one.

This is true, but we don't know exactly what they have done to "fix" that. Even if they didn't, this is better than it was before.

i hope with them being comfortable enough to give out a 3rd extra attack to the 3/4ths caster they will give it to the ranger and other amazing buffs. i had to stop in the video right before they got to the subclasses but just from the base class changes they sound amazing. the ranger changes will really decide if i preorder or not

Pure curiosity here, but why do you prefer Intelligence for spellcasting ability?
I know for me it's not INT replacing CHA, it's having the choice of either as the main stat that I thought was a great idea. Thematically it makes sense to me (CHA 'locks get noticed by their patrons because of, well, their CHA! INT 'locks dig deep for eldritch secrets and uncover ways to catch the notice of their patron in ancient tomes, etc...). More importantly it gives the wizard class an interesting and (at least to me) logical option in warlock to multiclass with.

I personally like the concept of the occult researcher that tapped into ancient secrets to gain power. Charisma is fine, but I would prefer Intelligence instead. I tend to bump Int for my Warlocks most of the time anyway so nothing will really change for me here, but it would have been nice to have the choice to main Int over Cha.

Soooo, the Warlock video is over! What do you think? Do you (finally) got your perfect warlock?
Also, a note for those of you who are enjoying the articles: the DDB article for the warlock will be out later this week!

I really want to update my hexblade to these 2024 rules 😭 do we know how all that stuff is going to work on beyond??

Two word answer: Not yet
