One of my favorite races is kobolds, trying to figure a cool build for them, any ideas yall? No really going for any certain build and using the multi-vurse kobolds
When I would create a Player Character (PC) from a Monster, I would go to the Monster Manual (MM) and look up their their traits. I would then have those traits as the PC's traits (sometimes modified depending on whether or not specific things make them overpowered. Like, some Monsters have multiple immunities and playing a character that is just immune to everything doesn't seem fun. I will either let the player choose 2 from the many or roll for the random selection of 2).
Other than that, it's whatever. 2024 rules make this kind of thing easier since your background determines what Ability Score modifiers you get. And it's your character so Feats and other stuff is all up to you. It all depends on what you want to build.
Edit: After reading the Kobold entry in the MM, I would say they could make a great Rogue.
Your PC gets Darkvision up to 60 feet and Daggers are already mentioned in the stat block. But! Your PC has Light Sensitivity, so you get disadvantage in combat during the day. So discuss with your DM how you're going to deal with that. Perhaps wear a black hooded cloak in the day? Your DM may have other suggestions.
Definitely discuss your PC with the DM for final approval.

The new version of the kobold's Draconic Cry feature lends itself very well to melee classes and subclasses, since enemies have be to within 10 feet of you to be affected
I have an idea for a kobold bladesinger, for instance, that I haven't had a chance to use in a campaign yet

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
the TLDR is: The kobold found a story book in a dragon hoard, the book turned out to be a spell book and he now goes around trying to be an heroic adventurer and his spells are somewhat based off of the attacks of a kobold inventor. It was an idea from about 3 years ago so you might need to tweak a few bits if you wanted to play it witht eh new more modern rules.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Nah. That's no fun. You gotta build it yourself or what's the point?
Lorewise/Flavorwise, they love to tinker, build traps, devices etc. They're right up there with gnomes for being known for that
Artificers have solid AC so they can get up close to enemies, which will allow you to use your Draconic Cry.
Being Small, they can use their Steel Defender as a mount, which can also benefit from your Draconic Cry.
The bonus sorcerer cantrip really helps them because Artificers are painfully low on those. Booming Blade, Shocking Grasp, and Chill Touch are all good choices.
Alternatively, take the fear advantage since those are usually Wis saves, which is weak for an artificer.

Well, for one thing, OP explicitly *said* they were using the new MMotM version, so the "point" would be to offer advice that actually fits what they asked for

The most endearing kobold character we ever played with took levels in Eldritch Knight in order to access fireball and "become a real dragon."
