For those who watch or know about the tokusatsu Garo, how whould I go about making a Makai knight type character either as a homebrew or with the current subclasses available.
For those who aren't aware of it, short version, it is a series where humans are trained to fight demon known as horrors with magic armor, items, and weapons. For more info on them the wiki will explain the lore better than I can in a quick thread.
Upon a quick google search that character appears to be wearing plate armor and using a long sword. The type and level of magic I believe would dictate the class you want.
A paladin might be a solid option for battling demons, with the oath you take determining the style of magic usage you have.
A fighter with magic gear would be logical but it depends on your DM allowing various magic gear to have your extra features unless you went Eldritch knight.
Again depending on the type of magic you wanna have even a cleric could be a full plate “knight” battling demons. this would offer the most spells/slots as well.
or what about an artificer? Plate armor ✔️ magic equipment ✔️ able to melee✔️

You could probably just run a barbarian paladin multiclass, should get the job done
Based on the description, I"m not seeing how a bog standard fighter wouldn't qualify if the character's abilities come mostly from gear?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
