While the new tabletop will surely get most of the attention, I'll go a different direction: The Forgotten Realms reboot and the approach splitting the release into a player and a DM's book - really happy to see it. I know lots play in their own homebrew worlds but with most of the published campaigns set in the FR I think this is something that 5E has really been missing. Hopefully that will be a springboard to having more campaign guides in the future like we used to get back in 2E and 3E.
Wish I could watch, but work instituted Restricted Mode on work computers and now I can't watch since the video is unavailable in Restricted Mode. Kinda sad since there is plenty of other youtube content is available. Not sure what WotC is doing differently to make Restricted Mode catch them.

I like that it will be seperate books. I don't play in the realms but I will buy a book that provides more character options, Splitting it into two books means that there will be less information that I don't need or want to dig through to get to what I do want.
We got Fizbans, and many more DRAGON books I can't remember on the top of my head, but then it said something like "10 modules with dungeons, and dragons, in them dungeons". That sounded like one dragon type for each dungeon to me.
I love dragons.
Forgotten Realms Books mentions = Oh, so is this like, going to be the Swordcoast/Xanathar Sourcebook reboots :v
What an absolute waste of time. More like a 20 minute infomercial than any thing direct. Most of the reveals were already known, a lot of reused footage. Watch if you want to, but seriously, spend the same 20 minutes in game play.

Yeah I like that they’re separate, be easier for both players and DMs if there’s less chaff. I’ll also be interested to see if the subclasses in the players book will be new, updated 2014 classes or both. I suspect both but wonder what the balance will be
Really like the idea of separate resources of DMs and players for the Realms.
What I'd also really like is for the DM book to be lighter on text/narrative-thick content and heavy on playable, actionable information. History and lore is fun, and yes, let's include that -but I'd love the format of the book, especially where it's describing regions, cities, locations, to be formatted in a way that I can turn to it in mid-session and easily use it in the active game without having to either pause for me to read or stop the session altogether.
Watching the video regarding project-sigil, maybe I missed it but can we treat that as just a map maker? I still want to use physical minis (as nice as 3d models are, I have a printer and really enjoy my down time painting them). Do we know if it'll offer fog of war, a separate DM screen, and gridlines?

1. You can definitely design custom maps in the builder. If you had one of those cool tables that has a TV in to put that on, that's definitely something that can be done!
2. These are all things the dev team wants to add to Project Sigil! And a DM does have more options available to them in their user interface than the player does currently, so I think that's a yes to that.

Awesome to hear - and yes I have a nice 6 player table that surrounds a 48 inch TV, (complete with cup holders:) so I'm definitely going to want to test this out.

For those of us without fancy tables, will there be an export function for created maps that can be at a good enough resolution for printing at.....say movie poster size at our local printing shops?

My money would be them taking a pass at the purple dragon knight, battlerager and bladesinger, at least, since they're pretty iconically from the realms. But probably anything/everything that was in the SCAG. But that's pure speculation mixed with hope. Though maybe not bladesinger since it got a Tasha's update.
The reference to a “new type of spell” in the Forgotten Realms Player’s book is intriguing: I don’t think “spell type” is currently defined, so it’s hard to know what a new type would be. We have different schools of spells, different spell levels (including cantrips), rituals. Perhaps more powerful ritual-like spells, which can only be cast, e.g. once weekly?
So.... it looks like D&D2024 isn't a complete thing until late 2025 when the final pieces come out and the new starter kit is released. That gives me a lot of time to play 5e until then.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Maybe a more powerful type of ritual that requires multiple casters? Maybe a "permanents" category, to tie in with magic item creation mechanics? There are a lot of possibilities

Just watched it, besides being mostly a long TV commercial there was a couple of facts about the VTT that give me hope... hopefully. They seem to be aware we want to add our own creations, hopefully this will also include 3d models. As the minis seem static, I'm hoping we can add our Heroforge, and 3d modeling files to it. Flat maps are fine, but I want to make use of 3d maps, for added challenges to my players.

Some of the Rogue art I've seen from 5.24 makes me think they haven't given up on the Inquisitive, which would work good for the urban fantasy parts of Baldur's Gate they were talking about.

I think there is a very good chance that Necromancer Wizard is one of the subclasses reworked in the Forgotten Realms book. They already confirmed the Red Wizards will be listed as a playable faction and there has been a renewed attention on them ever since the D&D movie released. Plus, people just find necromancers fun, and, if the 2024 PHB is any indication, Wizards seems to recognize it needs to release subclasses traditionally seen as "Evil" to give players those options.
Additionally, Necromancer Wizard is probably their single most poorly designed subclass, with some of its core abilities focused on building up an army of low-level creatures leading to incredibly long, painful turns everyone else at the table has to suffer through. Considering they updated conjuration spells to avoid exactly this issue, I would not be surprised if Necromancer was on the shortlist for a complete rework.
D&D Direct goes live in roughly 45 minutes; what are you hoping to see?
