I know we have no details yet, but given that the early 3D VTT will be "PC Only" do we think there's any chance we'll be able to host it in the Cloud somehow?
I am currently running Foundry and being able to host that in Oracle Cloud means its always on (doesn't need my home desktop fired up) and accessible all over the world. It means I can access it from work and prepare my games in my lunchtime. It also means I don't need a high spec PC to access it. Is this likely (best we can tell so far) to be a model that the new 3D VTT will support?
Or will it be more like Fantasy Grounds where it'll have to be installed locally (and can then be used as a host)? Which means I can't do half the use-cases I love Foundry for.
I'm not sure anyone knows the answer, but based on what I've seen so far I get the impression it's only accessible when logged into DDB.
So you can access it at work, through your DDB account and do things, but only from their site. I don't think it'll be locally installed, but I'm not sure it's technically hosted on the cloud either??
Anyway. Take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt. No one really knows. I'm probably 100% incorrect.
According to DDB, project sigil is supposed to be supported on 'PC, console, and mobile'. It's also supposed to allow importing things from D&D Beyond. To me that sounds like a local app that talks to a cloud server.
Funny. I totally get that most would prefer a single download to buy once, install and are done with. But I totally want a Cloud based subscription service like DnDB is now. Having the 3D VTT as part of DnDB and accessible via browser, like Maps, would be perfect for me.

I heard they plan on releasing Sigil to multiple devices including Game Consoles sometime in the future, so it's a possibility.
