I am trying to build a level 5 Assassin Rogue. I have the 2014 Players handbook in my sources as purchased. However, the only subclass available is thief. Is this an issues cause I haven't bought the 2024 content?
They are in their own separate dropdown right under the 2024 Core Classes.
EDIT: Sorry, pre-coffee response was not so detailed. Looking it over, the Assassin, Thief, and Arcane Trickster are all under Legacy on the 2014 base class, and the other subclasses require the Expanded Rules to be toggled.
Hello I am having a similar issue and am having trouble with the fix. I have toggled the options for legacy content on and off and can't seem to find it under the section you describe is there any way you can help?

WotC want you to purchase the new version so they have locked out the option of building a legacy PHB 2014 subclass on a 2024 “core” if the PHB subclass appears in the new edition PHB.
at the moment you can use an Expanded Rules subclass from Tasha’s, Xanathars etc on a 2024 core class. Even if you own the 2014 PHB you can’t use a 2014 PHB subclass on a 2024 core. They want you to purchase the new version.
At the start of the character creation you need to have legacy content toggled and then in class you use a Legacy 2014 “basic rules” class, then your 2014 PHB subclasses will be available.
i have a similar problem, i have everything tagged on, but i cant find most legacy subclases or feats. is there any way to fix it ? google in it and i cant find a detail course of action

Turn on the "expanded rules", 'legacy', and '2014 core' toggles in the builder.
For some things, you need to be building with the legacy versions of the classes, which requires scrolling down. If you're using the updated classes, you can't use the old version of anything that got updated.
As i said Before, i have all of that marqued down but when i select for example a fighter Class i cant chose Battle Master or Eldritch Knight, just champion. Same with other Subclases. And im picking legacy fighter level 5 with stats already on and everything. With a lot of clases it happen the same

Do you own the 2014 PHB?
If it's being shared with you, are you making the character in the campaign where it's being shared?
I have the same problem with Arcane Trickster. Myself and my DM both own the 2014 PHB, it's marked as content shared in the campaign, but I can't see the subclass when creating the character.
It's kind of ridiculous to have to create my character sheet with pen and paper while both of us pay the master tier subscription.
But it appears you can no longer buy any of these sub classes? If you didn't own them already? Tough luck?
You can no longer purchase individual character builder options from any book; that option was removed from the marketplace last year. However, all the books are still available for purchase.
I'm so confused. I've had a campaign going for many years and one of my players has evolved his relationship with his deity. We've been stumbling through his changes and I'm hoping to home brew a subclass so we don't have to keep stumbling through his enhancements.
We're still 2014, I've only purchased the core 2014 books, Tasha's, and Xanathar's. I'm trying to base his new subclass off of the 2014 Rune Knight. I've completed the homebrew, even published it successfully to the community, but I can't seem to create a character with it no matter what I toggle. What am I missing?

Make sure you're choosing the right version of the class.
The 2014 and 2024 versions of each class are separate classes in D&D Beyond. A homebrew subclass can only be associated with one or the other, not both. So, when creating a character, you need to choose the same version of the class that you created the homebrew subclass for.
Ok, now I see what I did! When you create the initial homebrew, you have to make sure you scroll down to the 2014 Core Rules section and choose the Class (Legacy) option, then choose the Subclass you want as a template, assuming you're basing off another class. Thanks for steering me in the right direction, hopefully this helps others as well.

Yes, and I have tried turning it off and on

Thank you, that solved it. I just realized they are listed under multiple sections in Class. The UI is not intuitive.
Consider this closed.

This whole thing is confusing. Perhaps they should have came out with some videos showing step by step?

Check you've chosen the correct base class (2014) rather than the top most class. See here for more info: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/mobile-beta-testing-bugs-support/211094-dndbeyond-not-allowing-2nd-level-druid-to-choose?comment=10

As far as I know, the 2014 core books are still on sale.
