Interestingly, paladin nova wasn't even the highest nova damage in 2014; serious nova builds typically relied on battle master fighter or gloomstalker ranger. The thing is that paladins are amazing support, and 2024 didn't nerf that part at all.

You talk as though the RAW are perfectly balanced...which they definitely aren't.
