I own an digital copy of the phb on beyond but when i open the fighter which i'm building it doesn't give me the option to choose the eldritch knight subclass. how can i fix this?
Thank you for responding <3 i have the 2014 version and it should come up while selecting fighter subclass it tought. i can only select: Arcane Archer (XGtE) Cavalier (XGtE) Champion (PHB) Purple Dragon Knight Rune Knight (TCoE) Samurai (XGtE). Sadly not Eldritch Knight (PHB)
i have legacy always on, so i need to buy phb 2024 for the subclass besides already having 2014?
It is only an issue currently in subclasses replaced in 2024. Eldritch Knight appears in both 2014 PHB and 2024 PHB. However, something like Echo Knight which is not replaced in the 2024 PHB can still be used with a 2024 fighter. However this will work in the long term isn't really known, if other subclasses will be replaced over time or not.

As Jl8e said you just need to scroll down a bit further if you’re making a 2014 character. They’ve basically had to double them all up as if they’re separate classes so in the drop down menu you’ll see the 12 classes from 2024 first but if you scroll down past them you’ll find the classes from 2014
What did you have to do to find EK? I am having the same issue.
This has been answered already in this thread, but if you're not seeing the Eldritch Knight subclass, you've likely chosen the 2024 version of the Fighter class without having access to the 2024 Player's Handbook. Go to the Home tab of the character builder and make sure "2014 Rules" is turned on, then go to the Class tab and choose the 2014 version of the Fighter class instead of the 2024 one. You may need to scroll down to find it.
Or, if you want to use the 2024 version, purchase the 2024 Player's Handbook.

Which PHB? 2014 or 2024? And which version are you trying to make?

You're making a 24 fighter. Make sure legacy is on, and scroll down in class selection.

If you want to use the 2024 fighter you will need the 2024 PHB to use Eldritch Knight. That is not the case if you want to use the 2014 fighter.
