Odd decision, but it remains the case that "work with your DM" is the proper answer to this question.
just adding advantgae to druid/ nature and ranger / survival goes a long ways. maybe all the classes should have in-class expertise.
many of the 5e background abiities sound a lot like 'you take a 10 at least on a related skill'
