Are attack rolls the same as attack bonuses? I have no idea
An attack bonus is what you add to your attack roll. So if you are attacking a creature with melee, ranged, or attack spell (not a spell that requires a saving throw) then that is your attack roll and you add any bonuses to that, like ability score modifier (typically Strength or Dexterity), Proficiency Bonus if you are proficient with the weapon, or Spell Attack Bonus determined by your class (spell casting ability score modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus)
Example. A 1st level fighter (proficiency bonus of +2 and say they have a 16 strength, so +3) attacks with a longsword. They roll a D20 and adds +5 to the roll.

Nope. An attack roll is simply the roll of the d20 to determine if you beat their AC.
The bonuses would be from the + or - in whatever your attack rules govern (eg Strength, Dexterity, or Charisma). This also includes any + or - from weapons, spells (such as Bless/curse) etc.
Your DM will/should explain this at your 0 session.
