I am DMing a game for my friends and one of our characters is playing as a wizard. I think he would really enjoy playing as a Chronology Wizard (from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount). We are using the 2024 rules, and the rest of my players are able to select previous subclass options, but the two Wizard options from EGtW are not showing up for him. For clarification, I have purchased the book in DDB and I have the Critical Role content box checked in his character builder...I am not sure why this is not showing up...any feedback or thoughts would be much appreciated!
You won't be able to use a Critical Role subclass with a 2024 class, you need to create the character using the legacy wizard (2014). Third party content is not available in 2024 classes at this time (until the third parties create new 2024 versions in-line with the abilities granted to 2024 subclasses).
Thank you for your response....here is what I don't get through...Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is not third party content...it was an official book published by WOTC...and it works just as well as Order of Scribes in the new format...why is this one different? I kind of understand the third party stuff not working in D&D Beyond since it isn't designed for that...however, the content I am looking for was published in an official WOTC product, it's not third party...It should be available...lol
I apologize if this comes off a belligerent, It just bothers me that once again this tool is what is holding folks back since our group is agreed to use DDB since they are all new players and were really hesitant about the math involved.
EGtW is Critical Role (if I remember correctly) and is third party content licensed by WotC. So while there is ambiguity... it's classed as third party because it was created by a third party.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Just to back up the above comments if you go to "View All" under sources Explorers Guide is filed under partnered content so while it was published by WotC they obviously don't view it as one of theirs

I recommend posting this in the Bugs forum.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
