So with the 2024 rules WOTC got rid of all half races. I would love to see either an offical or homebrew rule for making half species again. Before half-elf and half-orc were assumed to be half human but now would be a great time to make rules to combine say Orc and Elf into a half-speices. Any thoughts?
To be honest, I'm dubious they will. They seemed intent on withdrawing the concept of a given "Half-X" like the original 5e gave. They did come up with the idea of taking one race then just calling it a "Half-X", but seemed to have backed off on that too. The last solution is to do a build-a-bear system, but they haven't laid the logical groundwork for this in the PHB.
It seems that they have no intent on bringing it back at the moment. I wouldn't count on it coming in the future.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Half-Elf and Half-Orc are still in 5E, they just didn't get a printed revision.
So a player could choose any, or choose the new specie it see fit and describe it as such.
