Why they applying Sales tax all of a sudden? That makes no sense.
They've been talking about it for months, so it's not all that sudden. They have to implement it, so i guess it makes perfect sense in a way. We've been lucky so far I guess :-)
I'm not 100% up to speed on US sales tax as it pertains to eCommerce, but the general jist is that you don't have to charge sales tax until your company reaches a certain threshold (often called a sales 'nexus') in a state. From the looks of it, DDB has been unable to put off reaching this threshold anymore, so they need to start charging sales tax.
Sales tax with online sales is a weird one in the US, so it's not surprising that they've tried to put off the mess for as long as legally possible. But like others have said, they've announced it several times in various updates, on twitter etc.
I mean, it's kinda given considering the thread is about maximizing what one get for the money. The "good deal" in this case would probably be to pull the trigger (possibly with one of the last few active codes) before sales tax goes live.

Our group just took a look at 5e after playing 2E exclusively at the same time I started listening to critical Role and learned about Beyond.
The bundle is in my cart rn and I have tried every code I could find.... At this point a 10% code would be great. Before the Sales tax kicks in would make it essentially a 20% discount from the post 11/5 total.
fingers crossed there is a code released for Halloween.

Even if they do release a new coupon before adding taxes, it is probably a better idea to wait for black Friday/cyber Monday sale. The discounts for that will be greater than taxes (even if only slightly) and it will stack with coupons.
Drats. I didn’t think to try it with multiple books when I pulled the trigger last week. Just picked up Xanathars after getting the PHB code from the Essentials kit.

Waiting for another code before I get Volo’s.
Keep that in mind for future, AFAIK, all codes can be used for multiple products (Except where it is a specific code for a specific item).
I was considering getting the bundle, but not so much if all the codes for it are expired.

I thought about doing just this. Getting everything under rivals19 code instead of waiting for the bundle. But in my search for an active code I found that it would still cost the difference to get the bundle even if you owned all the books to get the 15% discount on future purchases.
Still patiently waiting for a legendary bundle code......
They just announced on FB and elsewhere that the Sales tax is going live 5th, and recommend ppl to get a pre-Sales tax discount by buying stuff right now (no code announced).
It has been mentioned for at least a month.

...Why are we talking about sales taxes in a thread for coupon codes? :P
Because it's the opposite of a coupon? An anti-discount? And I guess it's been a while since a new code came out.

Nope, not that I'm aware of
I wish they would give a final, pre-sales tax, legendary coupon code. Even 10%...just to stick it to "the man".

I think the last coupon specific news was when they killed all the coupons but one. There hasn't been a new one since.

RIVALS19 worked for me just now. Not used before. Purchased five sourcebooks and one adventure. 20% off all six.
Rivals19 doesn’t work for the bundles...

I wouldn't count on one before the Sales tax...

I saw the tweet but I read it differently. States discount prices, but the marketplace doesn’t show any discount.
Tax doesn’t affect pricing. It’s additional cost on the total but doesn’t reflect higher prices.
