Hey guys. So in the 2024 rules, if you are using 2014 material, the new PHB gives some guidance on how to convert the old stuff to the new rules. An example, when using a 2014 race/species, the new PHB advises to forgo any ability score increases from the 2014 race/species and use the 2024 backgrounds for your ability score increases. I just want to know if the character builder on this site, knows to do that when building your characters.
I recently built a 2024 Monk with a 2014 race in the shape of a Kender for a Dragonlance campaign and unless I missed something it only gave me the stat increase associated with my 2024 background. Not sure if that will apply across the board, or what happens if you try using a 2014 background on an otherwise 2024 character but in this one case it worked as intended
I tend to use everything and what I’ve found is that since I do race first if I input the racial adjustments and then use a 2024 background and input its adjustments they overwrite the species ones. If I use the 2014 backgrounds then the species adjustments are kept (and I have to add a “background” feat on the character sheet if following 2024 rules).
