I'm playing a warfordged gunslinger for my next character (5.5e) and I was wondering if there is a year system or something like that in DND? I need it to figure out how old my warfordged would be. It would have been created in the last war to serve as a soldier. How long ago would that be in the usual DND campaign? If there isn't I could just do some time stuff and make him fall through a teleportation circle thing and stuff. 😂
Each setting has it's own set of calendar systems, so the answer to your question depends entirely on what system you're playing in and when your DM is setting the campaign. Just because you're playing in the Forgotten Realms for example, that doesn't automatically assume you're playing at a specific date. There is no "current" date, there is simply the furthest forward mentioned date.
You mentioned your character was "created in the last war" which assumes Eberron as the Last War was an event in that settings time. Maybe read this section on The Last War and ask your DM when their campaign is set.
On Toril/In Fearun there are basically always small wars of some kind. You can always just create one yourself.
If you want one that happened in lore I think one of the more important ones that wasn't too long ago was the one of the Dragonborn nation of Tymanther vs. the wannabe god Gilgeams nation of Unther that was fought with the help of demons and devils. This was at the hight of the Second Sundering. They also fought another war in 1489 but Unther seemingly didn't manage to win that one either.
