Good day! I'm not sure what to say here, other than to say that I am an old-school gamer looking to get into a play-by-post game for either OG or 2024 5E. I am a long-time player and GM, but I am not looking to run a game any longer; I've gotten my fill of doing that, and now I'd like to be a player. Any campaign, any role, any style, so long as the format is PBP (either here or, site willing, Discord).
I have like 90% of the books offline, but if I have to purchase a book or three here to enjoy a game, I am more than willing to do that. I will keep my eye on the recruitment threads, but if anyone has an opening or is looking for players, let me know!
Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
Hello and welcome. If you aren’t familiar, you can use the drop down box at the bottom of the PBP forum to filter for games currently recruiting.
I just use the link provided in the PBP Rules thread to go right to the recruitment filter. And while there are a lot of games out there, it never hurts to ask!

Yep, I'm well aware of the forum. Was just saying hello and all!
The confusion likely stems from the fact that people generally don't do introductions on the forums, and your post seemed like you were looking in the wrong forum for play-by-post games. Generally speaking you're supposed to limit game finding to the specified forums.

Yeah, it was more an introduction than anything else...and I'm getting talked down to for it? What the frak.
Forget that I said anything. Didn't realize the community was this anti-new-person.

Buddy, you weren't being talked down to and people weren't being "anti-new person". You were conducting yourself in a way not typical to the space and it confused people as to your intentions. No harm, no foul.

And yet this statement right here is pretty darned condescending. I'm not your "Buddy".

And yet, what I did wasn't offensive, but rather an attempt to be friendly and introduce myself. Just because you don't approve doesn't make it wrong.

That's the second time you want to make this about people being confused. There should have been none, and the fact that you continue on with this tells me that either you didn't read what I wrote OR that you didn't care about what I wrote. I LITERALLY stated in my opening post that I was introducing myself AND that I was already watching the recruitment filter. And yet, not 1...not 2...but THREE of you failed to recognize that. And even after I explained to the first two what the scenario was, you just HAD to come out here and put in your two cents where it wasn't needed. Just had to make sure the new guy was informed that he was doing something not normal, didn't you?
All told, you are being condescending, you are talking down to me, and you are being anti-new-person. Which is the main problem with a lot of these gaming communities - if you haven't been here forever already, you can expect to be treated like garbage. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Welcome to the forum. There are usually people willing to help, like Erik and Laird, and it's always good to talk D&D, especially when there's an interesting topic brought up. Here are some good people here with some interesting insights on things. Hope you enjoy your time here!

Hey hey, let's it calm down a bit, everyone.
