I was not a huge fan of the standard covers for the new Forgotten Realms books, and was excited to see what the Alternate Covers were going to look like.
From what I am seeing the images were viewable at GenCon 2025, and at first I was a bit skeptical of them, then the more I looked at them, the more I liked them. Not that I would break the bindings to do so, but I really like that if both books are opened and laid next to each other, they create one big image!
Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
The front and back covers of both books create a pretty neat panorama.
One thing I would like to know - who is the artist on these? They art looks a lot like that of Dominik Mayer, an artist frequently used by Wizards for Magic. I have a friend who is a big fan of theirs and would be curious to know if they did this cover as well.
Greetings D&D Beyond,

You are correct, the art is by Dominik Mayer. The poster WotC gave out at Gen Con has "© 2025 Wizards. Illustrated by Dominik Mayer." in the bottom right corner that is cut out of the image above. I want to purchase a print of the art but have been unable to find it for sale or even the name of the piece.
