I'm levelling up to level 6 and I'm a PHB'24 Soulknife Drow Rogue.
We found some treasure and I ended up with 3000 gold đź’°đź’°! Our DM said we could buy stuff to help us (including magic items, although I don't know about the rarity limitations or tables yet). I'm assuming standard pricing, whatever that is, haha.
I want to get something that would help me have ADV on my attacks so I can easily use my Sneak Attack (ring/cloak of invisibility? I have no idea what standard prices are either, lol). I typically use my psychic blades for ranged attacks (I usually get ADV on my second attack due to Vex, but it's less damage, so the first attack would be sweet). But I'm open to handheld crossbows if that becomes better as I level up...
Any suggestions? -studded leather armor? -handheld crossbows? -invisibility ring/cloak/amulet, etc.?
Really depends on what equipment you already have. Just going on what you said, I would assume you have worked out by 6th level what basic things you need (Daggers, Manacles, etc.) If you are taking one too many hits in combat or you just aren't felling that Yuan-Ti Pureblood fast enough, thats an easy fix. If you are looking fine, see what things your party needs, for example if your road trips take too long get some horses, or if you continually get at least one player battered to 0HP buy some potions of healing. If you and your party are both good, I suggest saving. Who knows who you need to hire or pay off, or maybe your needs will become apparent later in the adventure.
In 5e PCs really don't need any magic items to be effective, and especially with the changes in 5e24 magic items like weapons get even less necessary. Magic weapons are no longer needed to hit certain creatures, and each class/subclass does more than enough damage to deal with any level appropriate threat. So, i'd have your Rogue lend coin to the other characters, and charge them interest. Then at a later date, when you've turned that coin into a lot more coin, you'll have more options on what to spend it on.

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
All I really have is some studded leather armor and basic supplies. We have healers and a mount and horse and wagon. But we mostly go on foot. The party each got this money as this is the first time where we get to really shop and buy some stuff. One player got Winged Boots. Another got a repeating bow. The only thing I want is to get ADV on my initial attacks without burning a bonus action so I can use Sneak Attack and keep my bonus action for a second attack with my Psychic Blades.
I currently have many ways to get ADV, but they all burn my bonus action and thus my second attack.
I also found out the invisibility cloak or ring are way beyond my affordability (like 100K+ gold). But I could buy one-time-use items like Potions of Invisibility or Dusts of Disappearance. But that seems like a pretty big expense (100-500gp per use) just to get a Sneak Attack without losing my second attack.

Haha. You'll become the Forgotten Realms (Or Greyhawk or Ebberon or whatever) first Ebaneezer Scrooge! I Love It!

FWIW, you can also get sneak attack by having an ally within 5ft of your target, and not worry about advantage.
Personally, I'd recommend some Goggles of Night or maybe just a Bag of Holding. Or a Cloak of Protection, or a Luckstone...
A potion normally costs half of a permanent magic item, so a Potion of Invisibility should be 50,000gp (and thus almost never really worth it, just double the cost and you have unlimited uses).

I’d check out wonderous items and have fun with flavor. If you’re a soulknife, you get almost no use from a magic weapon. Most of the time, following DMG’24 recommendations, +1 armor would be out of your price range.
So get some fun stuff. As an above poster said, a bag of holding is always a great choice. But other interesting items like a bag of tricks, alchemy jug, immovable rod. Maybe a cloak of billowing or a cloak of many fashions.

So I think “enspelled studded leather” or “enspelled weapon would be a great option. If you get fairie fire as the spell it’s only an uncommon item so it should be in the 100-500 range. 1d6 uses per day isnt to bad.
you could even get both and have another spell availabel

Whassa "en-spelled" weapon? (rough western accent included for no reason whatsoever)
basically just like the enspelled armour, it holds a spell you can us x number of times per day. If it only holds a cantrip or lvl one spell then it’s only considered uncommon which would be in the OPs price range.
I’m in a similar boat; the differences are I’m a Ancestral Guardian Barbarian and only have about 650 gold to work with. Hopefully I can haggle for some half-plate. I really don’t know what magic items tend to run; it will likely depend on my DM and what he rolls as available.

Obviously, your DM may rule otherwise (I would).

Slippers of Spider Climbing are a blast on a rogue. Gets you out of melee range and great for hiding in the nooks and crannies of ceilings.
