I had used a Necromancer homebrew for my character (the homebrew i used was effin awesome and so well created), but my new DM doesn't allow homebrew classes. I want to create a new character who is a Necromancer, but only using the book. What would be the best choice? I know Wizard School of Necromancy is a choice but it isn't that powerful until you are at a high level. Death domain cleric is another choice I believe. Is there anything else?
There's the Undying patrons for Warlocks, many examples of which are powerful liches. Much of it's necromantic features are more self-affecting, but you still have the base Warlock capabilities that can make you quite powerful.
