For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Dungeonland was an older sourcebook that brought Lewis Carol's Wonderland into Dungeons and Dragons. But the adventure was pretty hollow because it was all combat and no story. It was an older time. History lessons aside, let's get down to business. (Also, FYI, this is amalgamation of the Disney version, Alice Madness Returns, and the 1999 TV movie from Hallmark)
Of all the realms of the Feywild, none are more of an enigma than Wonderland. Even the most famous residents of the Feywild are cautious of Wonderland. Those who have traveled there and returned to tell the tale have told fascinating stories. Stories of a cat who may or may not give useful advice. Of a hookah smoking caterpillar. Of having tea with a mad hatter and march hare while trying to maintain their sanity. Even of learning a new dance from a griffin and "mock turtle".
Yet this land has it's own forms of danger. The realm is ruled by a tyrannical queen who orders beheading'ss at the drop of a hat. A serial killer duo of a sentient walrus and a human carpenter prey on the young and curious. Additionally, a mysterious monster not found anywhere else called the Jabberwocky, haunts the land. Finally, the denizens of this land are quite insane. Even the friendliest inhabitants can leave visitors very confused.
No one knows how or why this world exists. Some even argue it's a dream world because some people who have returned from it, did so by waking up. For some, Wonderland is a nightmare where they learned that a world where nothing makes sense is NOT an ideal place. For others, Wonderland is an inspiring dream where they learned to face their fears and believe in themselves.
Some in the latter category may even see people in the mortal realm who look very similar to the inhabitants cheer them on as they face a challenge in their own life.
