most subclasses with a basic teleport trick don’t get it until they’re into second or even third tier.
Archfey warlock and Cartographer artificer both get it right from the jump (cough) at level 3
If we were only talking about level 6 or level 10 features, this thread wouldn't exist
Warlocks already can do Misty Step at that point, just like Wizards and Sorcerers. That’s not a subclass thing, it’s just being a caster. So we’ve got a whopping 1 example of a core subclass jumping the queue.

Warlocks generally aren't going to use their scant slots on misty step unless they absolutely have to. Most won't even take it as a spell for that reason
Archfey getting CHA mod extra uses without using a slot is a massive increase
Edoumiaond Willegume "Eddie" Podslee, Vegetanian scholar (College of Spirits bard) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator (Assassin rogue) Peter "the Pied Piper" Hausler, human con artist/remover of vermin (Circle of the Shepherd druid) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)

3 is notable, not massive, and the point remains that it’s something that’s already in the basic class kit at the level this comes online.

Except that wasn't your original point, but whatever

I assumed people would infer that gaining a spell with your spell slots at a level is distinct from gaining the capability from secondary features without my needing to spell the distinction out.

Teleportation has always been fairly common place in 5th edition, it's not new to the 2024 rules. Imo it's neither boring (teleportation encourages interesting movement) nor excessive
?? No, it hasn't. It has progressively become more common. It's just lazy game design at this point.
I can confirm as someone who played 3.0 and 3.5 like crazy. Teleportation was fairly common. As were people playing classes that got it. Wasn't until I started playing Pathfinder, and then 5e 2014 (when it came out) that I was like "Oh wow, nobody is teleporting that much" Then towards end of 2014 Rules, and more so with 2024 Rules I am like "Ah good old days. Its like everyone has found a way to have Dimension Hop again. Classic D&D Players. Love them."
ALSO for anyone complaining about OAs, you have NO Idea how good players have it in 5e with NOT getting OA'd.. hot damn. I remember being completely flabbergasted for like the first year of 5e existing, about the LOSS of the like 10 ways to trigger an OA. And the lack of Feats or abilities that would give you even more OAs per turn. Shit Monks had to straight up take a Feat to not Trigger OA when Attacking.. cause Unarmed Strikes use to trigger... you know the ENTIRE thing Monks do?

"Not getting cut into bloody littles slices, That's the key to a sound plan."
