I’m a D&D fan from Japan, and I’d like to ask about official Japanese-language releases of Dungeons & Dragons products.
(Please note: English is not my first language, and I am using a translation tool to write this post. Thank you for your understanding.)
I know that D&D products are available in several languages, and that localization involves licensing and publishing decisions.
However, for Japan, there currently seems to be no clear or recent information about official Japanese translations.
Specifically, I would like to know if there have been any updates or announcements regarding:
Fifth Edition adventure books
The 2024 Edition rulebooks
The core rulebooks for 5e were previously available in Japanese through a local publisher, but that support has ended, and I have not been able to find any official information about future releases since then.
I have contacted customer support, but I was only directed to general localization information that does not mention Japan.
So I wanted to ask the community here:
Has anyone seen official statements or reliable Information about Japanese localization plans?
Does anyone know how Wizards of the Coast currently views or approaches the Japanese market for D&D?
Any information, even indirect or unofficial, would be greatly appreciated.
I don’t think there have been any announcements. I think they talked about translating into some European languages, but I don’t think they’ve said anything about Japanese.
I've not seen anything beyond the European languages either. Sadly Japan is pretty small market for D&D so they might not even think it's worth translating (which just then makes it an even smaller market because no one can buy in their native language and it starts to spiral)
We know there are lots of Japanese D&D players and fans! Right now, we don't have news about upcoming Japanese translations, but that news will be posted to the Japanese D&D website when we do!

I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. I was a bit nervous about posting, so I’m very grateful to receive such thoughtful replies.
From what I understand, there have been no official announcements regarding Japanese translations at this time.
I will continue to keep an eye on the Japanese D&D official website in case there are any future updates. In July of this year, an adventure titled “Oni no Migite” was released on the Japanese D&D website, so I remain hopeful and will keep following the news.
Thank you again for your time and responses.
