Hello! Call me Tana or Gato My pronouns are They/Them I am a teenager. I have Autism and anxiety. And, you would probably call me Trans, Aromantic, and Asexual I'm nonbinary, yay! But I will mother you if you are being stupid ALL HAIL MERLIN!!!!!!! :[roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] = [roll][roll:-4]+[roll:-3]+[roll:-2]+[roll:-1][/roll] I have adopted Golden, Salem, Wes, and Aspen
I always thought the dragon’s wrath weapons in Fizban’s were really cool, and the baseline (slumbering) one is uncommon. To get the most out of it, you need to have a couple dragon battles across the campaign, so you can let it simmer in their horde and upgrade it, though. And as you can upgrade it, it always felt like a good candidate for something like, this is my family’s ancestral weapon, and now it’s up to me to wield it. Could make for a fun bit of flavorful world building/backstory.
Unfortunately, I think longsword is the only one on here, but it can apply to any weapon. So you’d have to homebrew it in if you wanted a dagger or rapier or what have you.
A bag of holding is a classic for a reason.
In the hands of an imaginative player, an immovable rod is endlessly useful.
Yeah, items that boost your skills (Gloves of Thievery, Bracers of Archery, etc) are good in that you can do the things you do well even better.
BUT!
As a rogue main the thing I always feel like I'm missing out on is the more random, wacky things that I can't do but spellcasters can.
Bag of Tricks is like a 3 free daily pets that you can command, which can also be helpful in giving you advantage or an ally within melee for Rogue Sneak Attack.
Alchemy Jug: You'd be surprised how often the ability to magically summon 2 gallons of mayonnaise comes in handy. Plus you have beer, acid, even poison (don't get the beer and poison mixed up)!
Decanter of Endless Water: you can create a geyser of water to knock enemies prone, which is hilarious, and can produce 5 gallons of water every 6 seconds as a fountain. Think of all the shenanigans!

One of my campaigns the BBEG was killed almost entirely by a Decanter of Endless Water. My player was playing a Grung so I gave him a magic item I thought was harmless enough to get round the requirement to be wet an hour a day. Six months later he blasted my BBEG with it on top setting, knocked them prone three rounds out of three, and everyone else just wailed on them with advantage

I start at level 3, and I start with one uncommon magical item. Which item would you suggest?
And, limited to Fizban's and the core rules
I plan to play a DPR-based rogue

Bag of holding is boring, but it means your rogue can carry anything they want.

Cloak of protection to bump your ac and saving throws
Gauntlet of ogre power if youre str is low and you just want to show off
Gloves of thievery for a +5 to all dex/sleight of hand checks (picking pockets, didabling traps)
Winged boots, kite around the map and use a bow for sneak attack dmg.
Starter set, with a healthy mix of passives, rechargeables, and consumables:
Stone of Good Luck or a Cloak of Protection, Boots of Striding and Springing
Alchemy Jug, Sending Stones, Wand of Entangle
Dust of Dryness, Disappearance, or Sneezing and Choking; Potion of Hill Giant Strength,
