I bought most of the 2014 rule sets. DM Guide, Player Handbook, Monster Manuel, and most of the adventures. I am the DM and share the content, but when my players went from 2nd level to 3rd level, most the the subclasses are not showing up. I have everything shared. I also tried to search to see what could be wrong, but not finding anything. Any advice? I spent too much money here to not get the full benefits.
This is probably because they're using the 2024 classes, but none of you own the 2024 Player's Handbook where most of the 2024 subclasses are.
The 2014 and 2024 versions of each class are implemented as two separate classes in D&D Beyond's character builder. If you select the 2024 version without owning the 2024 books, you'll be limited to only options available in the free Basic Rules product, which includes only one subclass for each class.
If you want to use the 2014 subclasses, you'll need to remove the selected 2024 class and switch to the corresponding 2014 class. Ensure "2014 Core Rules" is checked on the Home tab of the character builder; otherwise, the 2014 character options won't appear.
Did you purchase the expanded rules like Tasha's and Xanathar's? If you have the 2014 PHB, MM, DMG and several adventures you should have 3 subclasses available for each class. Most adventures won't include subclasses.
