Not really an issue more of a general question for the audience who used the Shadow Grimoire Magic Item. I am currently a Sorcerer / Warlock and I want to know for the scroll abilities since it’s treated as a spell scroll. Would it be better to do 15 sorcerer / 5 warlock despite having to do an arcana check for spell scroll. Just want general opinions since that 9th level spell is sick asf.
Yes! I know they are crazy good. I have proficiency in arcana and if I got expertise later and I have advantage on the study action (unless that will not count for scroll if not then nvm). Idk if it’s worth dropping for the extra attack through warlock or just use melee cantrips instead! I appreciate the response and feedback!
I may be missing something, but the Shadow Grimoire's special scroll page says that the spell on it is "always of a level you can cast". A Sorcerer 15 / Warlock 5 can't cast 9th-level spells, so the scroll page wouldn't have a 9th-level spell on it for that character.
The 17th level feature for the item says you can pick it a spell as a scroll page as an action. I thought that would bypass it. Just gotta make an arcana check.
That's not how I would interpret that, but I can see how it's kind of ambiguous. Something to ask your DM about.

Yeah, I'd rule that "The spell is always of a level you can cast" would supersede "you may now choose which spell in the grimoire becomes a scroll page", but the item clearly wasn't written with multiclasses in mind. It's DM's call

The 17th level feature for the item says you can pick it a spell as a scroll page as an action and save it for next turn.
I thought that would bypass it. Just gotta make an arcana check.
