Assume a 3rd Champion Fighter/11th Kensei Monk. Has weapon mastery in dagger, short sword and quarterstaff. Those 3 are all Kensei weapons as well. If attacked with Dagger twice and Short sword in attack round (via nick mastery), would the short sword attack get dex damage bonus given its now a Kensei/Monk weapon? also i assume the quarterstaff would be a non starter dual wield as not light or finesse?
You’d need the Two-Weapon Fighting fighting style if you want to add your ability modifier to the Light attack’s damage, regardless of whether Nick is involved.
And yeah, there’s no way to use a quarterstaff in conjunction with Nick. (The Dual Wielder feat would let you use it for a BA similar to the Light attack, but since it isn’t actually the Light attack, it still wouldn’t qualify for Nick.)

that was my thinking the only thing that was in the back of my mind was that its a monk weapon (via kensei) and therefore has override ala unarmed strike / monk weapon strike, and apologies thank you for the prompt response.

ModeratorMonk weapons do let you replace Str with Dex, but when the damage doesn’t let you add Str to begin with, there’s nothing to replace.
