Everyone plays DND in different ways. Personally, I play IRL and I really like using monster tokens like the ones included with the Heroes of the Borderlands set (And there were some included with Ravenloft too, seems like they're including sheets of those with each new expansion). They're much cheaper than minis, don't need painting, and aren't ruined if I accidentally snap a wing off or something. Art on them still looks nice too.
Similarly the reference cards with the starter set are useful as both a player and a DM so I can see the important info at a quick glance. I haven't got the new packs of standalone cards yet but I will at some point.
I think it's safe to assume that there are plans to release more card packs for CR past 5 and higher spell levels, but what I would also like to see are card packs for the expansions (E.g for the monsters/items introduced in Ravenloft), along with standalone token packs that are more expansive - it would be great to have a token collection that fully accounts for all monsters in the Manual + expansions. Tokens for species/class combos (E.g Human female sorcerer, Aasimar male paladin, etc) could be used for both players and NPCs.
I know that there are 3rd party options, but more official options would be nice.
There’s map packs similar to the Ravenloft one being offered with both the Arcana Unleashed and World of Warcraft releases so I assume those will give you the tokens for monsters in those books, which is good. Personally Im not too fussed about the tokens but I’m a push over for nice packs of maps so I hope these sell well enough that we continue to see them releasing with each new book going forward. Sadly I doubt we’ll see them go back and release similar token sets for all the monster manual creatures though, I think theres just too many of them to make it practical especially if you consider that you’d need multiples of many of them
