My friend Rumail is a die-hard fan of freemaxfire.com [ a mobile battle royale game ], and I finally convinced him to sit down for a one-shot. The problem is, he only thinks in terms of “who’s the sniper, who’s rushing, who’s playing support.” What class combos would you recommend so the roles feel intuitive and they actually want to come back for session two?
Warlocks are a bit weird. They have comparable damage output to martials, with fairly limited spellcasting. They can kind of do anything except tank and support.
*More skirmishers, but I chose to put them in the Striker role.

I'm not super familiar with those types of games, but I think I have a general idea of the roles in them, and they actually map fairly well to D&D.
Striker: Fighter, Monk*, Ranger, Rogue*, Paladin, Wizard/Sorcerer (if you choose damage spells).
Tank: Barbarian, some Fighters, some Paladins.
Support: Cleric, Bard, Druid. (Paladins have a bit of support).
Crowd Control: Cleric, Bard, Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer.
