Shadow Stalker Questions

I’ve been reading the Shadow Stalker and had three questions about how the Shadowy Reflection is intended to work:

1. What exactly is the Shadow?
   Is it meant to be a summoned creature, a duplicate of the Rogue, or some kind of spirit/supernatural entity?
2. How does the Shadow’s action economy work?
   When controlling the Shadow, can the Rogue use their own Action to control it and then have the Shadow take another action? Or does controlling the Shadow mean choosing a single action for it?
3. What happens if I summon the Shadow again?
   If I use Shadowy Reflection again while my previous Shadow still exists, does the old one disappear and a new Shadow appear next to me?

I’m mainly curious about the intended design here, since the Shadow seems to work a little differently from a normal summon or familiar.

Hi there! The Shadow Stalker is a Rogue subclass from a new third-party D&D 5E sourcebook called Cthulhu by Torchlight. It's published by Chaosium and is officially available on D&D Beyond. It's a really cool subclass that uses 'Shadow Motes' to summon a shadow for scouting, turning invisible, and even teleporting (Shadow Swap).
