I am currently having a design/RAW/RAI argument on a character :-)
He is human, and he was raised by Changelings. So I took the Changeling Traveler Background. Per the Wording... "If you’re not a Changeling, you were born to a changeling parent and traveled with them; you could use a Disguise Kit or illusion magic to mimic their abilities." So, they have disguise kit proficiency, sleight of hand, performance, shiftweave, deception, persuasion. Planned Actor feat. Basically as much 'like Changeling' as a human can be.
But then we get the Focused Personas origin feat. Even though the background says we can take it as a non-changeling, Focused Personas has Changeling as a pre-requisite. So, is this a useless origin feat for non-changelings? If so, why not give non-changelings an alternative feat. Or is it RAI that some of these apply? My read of RAI is we should get at least one of them - our default 'Persona'. However if we put the effort in with disguise, clothing, performance etc, we should get the other 'Persona'. Skin Cant... it seems that this would be we could read it in others, but not speak it as a non-changeling cannot change form. But my counterpart says no. RAW means you get no origin benefits and tough :D
