On the character sheet, however, selecting a 5.5e class actually will get you the updated 5.5e subclasses! (This is currently the only book where that's the case.) Otherwise, the spells, species, feats, etc. will still be the original 5e versions, but they will work no matter which class version you select.

Note that 2014 format spells, subclasses, feats, races, etc. are all viable for 2024 rules. A few conditions got altered and obviously players shouldn’t double dip racial ASI and background ASI, but that’s about the extent of the issues crossing iterations produces on the mechanical end.

If I buy this (https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/other-settings/DBRVOJLXV) is it playable with 5.5e rules out of the box? How will it work on DnD Beyond if I only want to play with other 5.5 stuff?

ModeratorThe book itself uses its original 5e rules.

You can get a 5.5e version of the rules from the creators website, go visit, there is even more cool stuff there.
