I'm starting to really accumulate tons of note cards, papers, notebooks, etc. for our home campaign that's over a year old now.
I've messed around with Realm Works a bit, and though it does some real cool and powerful things, I simply don't like how they implement it. But I could totally use it. However, it's A LOT OF WORK...
Before I invest all that time entering in all my info, getting over a HUGE learning curve, invariably correcting things a few times, etc. I'm really hopeful that D&D Beyond will do many of the things I need.
However, I really haven't seen any actionable information regarding what the "Campaign Management" aspect will entail. For example, here's a list of things I specifically am hopeful for, any speculation (or info I haven't seen) regarding any of these features being available? Essentially, I'd like everything that Realm Works does, but not have to pay their weird cloud thing, have a web based interface, easier to share with players, and be able to connect all services paid for already in D&D Beyond ;) Other features were in Obsidian Portal, but that seems to be completely defunct now (has that even been updated in the last 2 years?).
I assume that any entry in the Campaign Management links to any other part of the D&D Beyond site (i.e. spells, items, monsters, characters created, etc.)
Be able to enter NPCs, places, items, quests, monsters, PCs and be able to create hierarchical and relational connections between them all
Be able to enter full character sheet type information for any NPC
Having customizable fields for any entry in the campaign. Having re-usable fields (i.e. lists of races or lists of character types, gender, etc.)
Keywords. Categories. Subcategories. Be able to sort by any field/keyword/category/subcategory/etc. Be able to search through all field/keyword/category/subcategory/etc. Able to filter by any field/keyword/category/subcategory/etc.
Be able to merge, import, export, combine, break apart campaigns into smaller/bigger campaigns
Ability to import information directly from any purchased (or subscribed) D&D product, and then be able to customize it
Ability to toggle any entry (or a field within that entry) as "known/unknown" to the PC. Be able to uncover only parts of map as they explore. Be able to toggle the truthfulness of any "known" information. Be able to display to players any or all "known" information. Have information that is "Only DM" information.
A repository of DM customized information, what I had in mind was a built in Wiki where you could enter "house rules"
Built in "social" services for the group. A calendar, a forum, a wiki.
Be able to send PCs customized/personal information, messages, etc. What I think would be great is an IM type of application, either within the interface, or if you're at the table, it comes up as an IM on the players mobile device
Connect to a free service that allows other DMs to share information, quests, modules, campaigns, maps, art, NPCs, customized spells/items/monsters
Be able to import information from DMs Guild (would be great if free if already paid for.. alternatively for an additional nominal fee?)
Be able to import information from PDFs if it is formatted in a pre-specified / standard way
Anything that can possibly be done to connect with Fantasy Grounds. I'm not sure how that would look, but IMO, FG is the greatest VTT, but it's not really designed (IMO) to be a campaign management tool. And, with them releasing the next version in Unity, maybe there will be opportunities for the two to directly interact with each other?
I don't have a full breakdown of what will and won't be in Campaign Management.
Campaign Management is an area where there are soooo many awesome features & functionality that can be added and I know that the staff team have some great ideas themselves.
It's also worth knowing that the team will continue to add further features after D&D Beyond goes live.

This would be really helpful. Especially in long running campaigns.

Amazingly helpful. Possibly even indescribably.

There's certainly a million things that could go in it. Would it be possible to get a stickied wishlist like we have for the character sheet? That way we could start collecting all of the ideas in one post.

Well, those are my thoughts for now!
