i was reading the dndbeyond guidelines on sharing homebrew with the public and it says you cant share stuff that quotes official content
i copy and pasted traits from gnomes and tieflings into a meshed together thing and thought maybe other's would want to play a tiny demon child like i do and so i would share it so they didn't have to go through the trouble of doing what i did. but since i did copy paste traits idk if i can?
As long as you change the name of the race and abilities to not directly reference copyrighted material, and the race doesnt have any spells that are not from the SRD (or homebrewed), you can publish it.
so like i named it "Gniefling" as a mash up of Gnome and Tiefling and then i have these as the traits
Age
Gnieflings age the same as Gnomes, but live a little longer. Gnomes mature at the same rate humans do, and most are expected to settle down into an adult life by around age 40. They can live 350 to almost 800 years.
Size
Gnomes are between 3 and 4 feet tall and average about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Devil's Tounge
You know the vicious mockery cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the charm person spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the enthrall spell once with this trait. You must finish a long rest to cast these spells once again with this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for them. This trait replaces the Infernal Legacy trait.
Alignment
Gnomes are most often good. Those who tend toward law are sages, engineers, researchers, scholars, investigators, or inventors. Those who tend toward chaos are minstrels, tricksters, wanderers, or fanciful jewelers. Gnomes are good-hearted, and even the tricksters among them are more playful than vicious. Tieflings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there. Evil or not, an independent nature inclines many tieflings toward a chaotic alignment.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common, Gnomish and Infernal. The Gnomish language, which uses the Dwarvish script, is renowned for its technical treatises and its catalogs of knowledge about the natural world.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
so like as you can see I cherrypicked from the two races. and used the Devil's Tongue variant tiefling.
I'm sorry if this is very clear cut to most people, but i have a hard time understanding things. that is basically how it's worded in the guidelines and i have no clue what that means.
what i'm wondering is yes or no can i post this. or can i post this under condition of putting like a "this is a cherry picked mashup" in the description.
Anything that is part of the SDR (Basic Rules) is safe to use for your homebrews and publish.
That being said, the Devil's Tongue feature is unfortunately not part of the Basic Rules, and therefore falls under the copyrighted material that would be prohibited from being used and made public as homebrew. An alternative that MIGHT work (not sure) is for you to change the feature enough as to not be considered a copy of the Devil's Tongue feature, changing his name and maybe two of the spells granted. That could be enough, but in any case, don't worry, if you try to publish something that contains copyrighted material nothing bad will happen, aside from the frustration of seeing that you cannot publish it :)

ah darn thought it might be okay sine it's on the tiefling page on here. maybe for posting purposes i'll change that to the Infernal Legacy it replaces and then just let my dm know the difference.
the main reason i wanted to share it was to give my dm a chance to look it over but he doesn't use dndbeyond. and the secondary was so others could use it without having to go through the riggamaroll of piecing it together like I did.
I know you posted this a long time ago but I just discovered this and I FREAKING LOVE IT! The Gniefling fits perfectly into a campaign im in right now and I can't wait to share it with the group. Thanks so much.

The idea is not original.
The wispling appeared in Fiend Folio (3rd).
Their special traits is Change Self (Su): once per day, as the spell cast by a 1st-level sorcerer.
