Technically, the feature os sharing a character is a view-only thing.
What you can do is to upload your characters into a campaign slot, un-assign them, then let your players claim them. This way, your characters become theirs, and they can edit them.
All these features are free, there is no need for a subscription.
I have the subscription. When I want to share content with friends, I create a campaign with content sharing turned on, then I send the link to my friends. There they can join the campaign with an existing character or create a new one with full access to the content I shared. Both of us can then edit the character.
If i subscribe and make characters then put them in a campaign/ share them with friends, will they dissappear if the subscription runs out?
Whenever a subscription expires and is not renewed, should you have more than 6 characters created you will be asked to choose 6 of them to keep active, the rest will still be there, but unavailable until you subscribe again.
