So I was looking at the Scourge subrace of Aasimar.
I love the flavor of this. It has such a cool angle. With Celestial fury burning even the aasimar (and others around it). But compelling on the page doesn't always translate to great in game.
My first thought is that I am going to take a lot of damage personally and I have to worry about allies so I was just looking into how this played on the table.
So the good news is your resistant to radiant damage. So your gonna half any of whatever is coming at you. So let’s say your level ten and you activate your radiant consumption. Your gonna take 5 well everyone around you takes ten. Plus you can blast one other target with an additional ten once per round if you land an attack.
Now a major downside to this is that ally’s in range are also gonna get torched. And a free ten damage a round really starts stacking up fast. So unless your the only melee in your party keep in mind when you unleash you divine beast your friends must suffer to.
Another thing to consider lore/story wise is that activating this is sending up a huge signal flare to enemies because you become a glowing beacon of holy terror. If your DM is mischievous or clever he might make this cause you to be targeted by fiends seeking to corrupt you or destroy your inner light. Or even (and this is something I would do) have some local clergy witness this and try and declare you as his gods holy weapon and get really pushy and officious on you.
Cool thank you. I had not considered the resistance factor. So if I am reading it right while I have the Radiant Consumption going anyone within in 10 and myself are getting hit for 1/2 level damage. So I would take 1/2 of that. So at level 10 everyone within the radius is getting hit with 5 but I take 3.
