Im new to this. Im setting up the Phandelver campaign to run with friends next week. Instead of printing maps I decided to use an old 32" LED TV to display digital versions. Id like to still be able to keep a fog of war about. Im wondering what the least obtrusive (I dont want an entire pc sitting at the table) way to do this is.
Ive already purchased the physical version of the starter set but saw that the digital version comes with full size player and DM maps. How exactly does this work. Is there a program that I run D&D beyond with and have digital maps with digital tokens on it? Is there a way to have a fog of war with this? Only way i could think of doing it is getting the maps and loading them up in photoshop and creating layers for the fog and simply hiding them as the adventures explore. Could I do this from some kind of tablet instead or even my phone. I have a laptop but with my dm screen and other bits around a laptop seems to much.
Just looking for insight to best handle the situation and create a good experience for my friends first times playing.

There is not a virtual tabletop on DDB (maybe in a few years, buy not now).
You can download/save the digital maps then use a VTT of your choice with fog (I use roll20, which does not work with tablets last I checked).
