If fighting in magical darkness using devil's sight and opponent has faire fire. Would farie fire still surround opponent? Or be extinguished ? I think extinguished. But would be awesome to attack with advantge in darkness
Unless the Faerie Fire was upcast with a 3rd level slot or higher, Darkness will dispel it. The good news is that if your opponent cannot see through magical darkness and you can with devil's sight, then you get Advantage to attack them anyway.

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

Read the thread and my opinion remains unchanged. Spells that are upcast are considered to be the level of the slot they use. The ability of Darkness to dispel light casting spells does not upgrade with upcasting. So light spells can be upcast to inure them to the dispel from Darkness.

Thank you that was a very interesting discussion. Anotber question then. If im doused with burning oil and cast darkness on myself . The fife goes and the damage stops?

Nope. The fire isn't a magical spell of 2nd level or lower. So you are on fire, and you cannot see it.

Not a fun experiment.

Well this has been discussed before, and there are different opinions. Took a bit, but this topic was covered here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/rules-game-mechanics/25786-darkness-spell-vs-daylight-spell
I don't advise poking it either.
