Im looking to build a sort of witchdoctor caster. Someone who uses voodoo dolls to buff her allies and curse her enemies. Im debating between a few different race and class options but i wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were. I dont have much more information on what more i want to do yet, im still planning that out. Just wanted to have some input.
Pick a cleric class make the voodoo dolls required material components for spells that normally have annoying material components just make the dolls expensive or hard to make as appropriate. Pick mostly bluffs maybe even create a buff spell or two.
I would go with druid or Wizard for a witchdoctor personally.
You might be able to swing like druid/cleric. Circle of Spores would probably synergize well for a witch doctor, lots of poison and turning things unto undead servants.
Circle of spore kinda fits. If you were to homebrew, cleric, wizard, and druid would work, as people have said. I'd also add Warlock. You could do a ton of stuff with invocations. They are a (mostly) full caster. They have the hex spell which feels very witch doctory! I'd give them bestow curse as part of an added spell list. Also maybe give them some kind of curse invocation attached to eldritch blast. Something like hitting someone with eldritch blast causes their next attack to be as if effected by the bane spell. If they go on to take the pact of the chain, you could add some voodoo themed pet. Warlocks are tricky though and I think a lot of thought would have to go into creating the subclass. That being said, I think it could be pretty cool.
