Hi I am fairly new to 5e and really just this website all together, I am wanting to create some Homebrew Classes but was wondering if there was a way at all if the Homebrew Subclass can use its own spell list and not the one assigned to it for example if I picked Wizard and made my own Subclass for that could I have that Subclass use a whole different spell list and not show the Wizard Spell list at all if that makes sense.
If you're worried about balance, the best choice would be to just stick to the basic set till you get the hang of it.
Or you could do a play test build. Where you and the DM discuss how you want the class to feel before the campaign, and edit how the class functions from campaign to campaign.
Out of curiosity, what do you want to homebrew? So far, I have been able to create my wildest fantasy dreams within the system of 5e. So maybe we can help you bould out what you want to be?
Well I wanted to create Final Fantasy Subclasses but have them use their own spells and spell lists, however I don’t think I can remove the core classes spell list and I’ll have the just make notes of the spells that the subclass can use
You can't remove features from the base class (this includes spell lists) with DDB homebrew.
You can sort of work around it by having a separate, homemade spell list then only learning spells from that list, but that is about it as far as for what you are asking.
Homebrew base classes are planned, but not for the near future.
Dang, I hope one day I can get rid of the base classes spell list even if it is for just having a private homebrew class for my players to make picking spells less clunky

Thank you for the help in advance!
you can do whatever you want with DM permission. But in the meantime go here for inspiration. https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew
