Does anyone know whether the rules for sidekicks are included if I buy Dragon of Icespire Peak for Beyond? I'm interested in those rules specifically and wondering how I can access them
It's set up so that you can add a sidekick to a PC in the extras section, like you would a mount. If you add a "warrior" sidekick to a PC, you will see that there are already leveled statblocks for a warrior up to level 12, same with the other types. So pretty simple to do their levels in DnDbeyond.
Are the sidekick stats more like PCs or more like monster stat blocks? I was hoping for something simpler to run than just a full-blown character sheet

They are stated like monsters, and they are very simple. Only a handful of abilities (just enough to make them helpful).
Now that Tasha's is out it states you can add the sidekick class features to an existing stat block so long as the creature is CR 1/2 or below doe's anyone know if D&D beyond plan to implement it so you can level up and add to pre existing stat blocks without having to make a custom one every time they level up.

I have heard that they plan to add a sidekick builder tool. It may tie in with the npc/monster builder tool that they have also been planning for a while. No ETA on any of these (afaik).

Yes, they’re included. Of course, my copy is from the Essentials Kit code.
Yes. I bought the adventure kit bundle from the marketplace and there is a sidekick section in the compendium.
Most of the rules is just their stats and how to level them.

They're more like a stat block, definitely not like a PC character sheet.

You can even customize them in the Homebrew.
This has been great for when player turnout has been lower than expected to keep me from having to re-balance encounters.
