I'm in the process of putting together my first character to play with and having an absolute blast so far. I plan on making a handful of characters (3 generic, 1 warforged, and 2 homebrew) to choose from when I find a group to play with. So as I'm fleshing out backstories/backgrounds, taking peeks at subclasses, and just tweaking away in general I ran into an issue and have nobody in person to ask.
Should I save the stat rolls on my character sheets for when I'm present with a party/DM? I have my own dice and want to do as much due diligence as possible so as not to hold folks up too much, but I assume the stat rolls could be considered cheated if not done with witnesses? Even considered recording it, but seemed a bit ridiculous and someone could say I could have as many takes as I wanted.
Or standard array. Just don’t roll...never assume die rolls are acceptable.
more over just don’t assume everything you read is on the table as allowed. For instance what if the game you enter has no true clerics? Or Tieflings.. you get the idea.

In general, use point buy if you're creating characters ahead of time. If your group rolls stats, wait until the character creation session to do it.
