I preordered Eberron. However it is still not loading on my iOS app. As I understand it I was supposed to get it on Nov. 19th. Well the 19th is almost over.
So release day is for everyone except app users. So we are basically the ugly step child of dnd beyond. I get it now. Lunch break room has no WiFi. The app is how I access the content using my iPad. So if you are a customer that utilizes the product in this way we don’t get the release day like everyone else. It makes sense I suppose technologically. However, from a customer service stance it is really bad.
Remember that the focus of the app is offline use for low data users. As such, DDB tries to keep data pushes to a minimum. That's why they're trying to get the compendium release as polished as possible so they don't have to keep making additional changes and eating up user data. Remember that they can't hotfix the books, they have to push a whole new download.
It would suck if you relied on the app because you don't have a lot of data/intermittent data, and suddenly it all gets eaten up because DDB had to do three pushes in one day.
But that is not how it is used in practice. You download the content to the app when on WiFi and use it later offline where WiFi is not available. But let’s say your argument is correct. The answer is you release it to everyone when it is ready. Not to some of your customers one day and others days later. If you are going to make a big deal of release day. Again I repeat it makes sense technologically but not from a customer service stand point. It is bad marketing.
You've got to remember that mobile app version and the web app version are basically two different versions of the content. And the Eberron release has been a difficult one from the get-go. If they had the bandwidth to release both on day one, they would have. It's not like it's some malicious disdain for the app users, just that the site takes priority because it experiences the greater usage compare to the app.
I'd wager that most of the complaints about this rollout are from people who have never tried to do anything web/IT related as a job.
DDB is not WotC. They only have access to the content when WotC gives it to them. And coding things takes time. A LOT of time. It's not just copy and paste, it's "why won't this image render in properly?" and "why is this DIV tag broken?" and "why does this hotlink go to the wrong place even though I've fixed it eight times now?"
So sure, they could delay everything until the app compendium is ready to go, too. But then everyone would be screaming "THE BOOK IOS ALREADY OUT WHY CAN'T I USE ANY OF IT ON DDB I'M SO PISSED RIGHT NOW AREFGASDERFLVNS.KJDFVBA;WOSFRE'IOLAENBGLK;AD F/KMO;[P"
So they made a choice to prioritize the website, since most people are using the website (since they haven't had time to build out character sheet support for the app yet and that's probably their #1 traffic driver...)
It is because I work in I. T. That I make these comments. To often those in forums are good with technology. But there are those who use the app that only see that they get the content later. We as tech folks need to also be aware of the marketing PR of what is done. All some users see is it is not working. They don’t care why. They just move to a different company that takes care of their needs better.
We're sorry the app version is taking some time to become available. Because we have to make changes to live content (because of the connections with Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron) it's been difficult to get the app version ready. But the team is working hard to get it released, and we will be sure to announce when that happens. Thank you everyone for your patience!
I was hoping OboeCrazy would answer. Thank you for responding though.
Well, DDB basically never gives timelines on when a feature will be out. I doubt they'd just delay endlessly, and it's something they'd like to have ready soon, hence my guess. :)

I can access it online, but not via the app.
The email that was sent to the preorder era said that it was available on the website but the mobile version would be a little bit

Ok I will bite. Does this mean hours, days, months or years?
I assume it'll probably be up sometime within the next few days.

So since they don’t give timelines we can assume it will come out sometime around the time of Diablo 4.
Soon TM
It is working now. Thank you for the hard work!!
