I am still hoping for a Psion class that adds fewer new mechanics than UA mystic. I am in the camp that thinks Psionics can use spellcasting mechanics.
The problem with psionics is everyone is super-opinionated, both for and against. There's no solution that's going to make most people happy; in fact at many tables it's more likely that psionics would just be banned. That's what's happened in every edition up to this point.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Just import the old UA of Mystic that would be sooooo much better
The old UA mystic is dead, development on that version has stopped.
Also, the psionic wizard isn't meant to be a full psionic class, and it's still considered to be one of the strongest psionic UA subclasses.

I've heard a lot of complaining from people about psonics I'm starting to think homebrewing is better than any official version.

Yeah, the mystic was better, because the mystic was broken beyond all rational thought.
"The Epic Level Handbook wasn't that bad, guys.
