So I kinda wanna use a permanencied prismatic wall and maybe some other things as like other walls and portals to have areas be temporarily blocked until the party finds ways to get rid of them. So areas can be reused and revisited.
I ask specifically about prismatic wall because of its many layers and huge consequences for trying to pass through without getting rid of it first.
I think that's an awesome idea! Not a great idea for lower level adventurers, since if they touch it they'll basically die. But at higher levels (or if you toned down the damage to match the levels, but kept the barriers just as hard to remove) I think that'd be an interesting mechanic.
There's no official way beyond one-time use Glyphs of Warding. However, that is a "player's perspective" -- as DM you can just say the people who set up that area found a way to make it permanent and have ways to easily bypass these walls which only they could. You can do whatever you want. I also agree that this is a truly fun concept and would be brilliant in a dungeon crawl or maze.

I like it. Different doors use different single colors, and each color has a specific way to remove it. If the possible damage is too scary, you can just make them walls of force that have different remove options.
I like the idea of the damage and everything... And the effects of the last 2 walls. They could create some interesting arcs for the party to try and get the other member back from another plane or get then unpetrified. I'd only lessen the damage for a few levels though because resurrection can be expensive and hard to find.

Partway through the quest for absolute truth.
