Ok so here is the thing... My older brother got me addicted to D&D back when i was like 10 or 11, and I recently decided that I wanted to play again... Problem being that the last time i played was V3.5, and I have absolutely no idea what the newest version is like... Also, there is not enough people local to me that play D&D so i cant seem to join a local group...
Is there anyone who can give me a good rundown of the newest version, how it works, and how i may be able to join an online group?
If you have a local game store, they may have Adventure League games. To find groups online you can check out the "find a group" forum, use discord, or VTT forums (like roll20).
I'm not very familiar with 3.5, but I can try to answer questions about 5e. I recommend starting by skimming the basic rules (since they are free).
I haven't personally played 3.5, but I've skimmed through the books, and talked to people that have played it. From what I gather, the changes from 3.5 to 5e are as follows.
Easier and more streamlined character creation.
There are much fewer feats, but choosing a feat is more significant.
The rules are more streamlined, and easier to understand.
There's less bloat in the system. There are a lot of options to choose from, however there isn't an avalanche of options. There's also few options that are so blatantly overpowered, that most people choose them. Yes, there are stronger options, and there are weaker options, but most of them are pretty comparable to each other. Except for the Beast Master ranger, which just sucks.
There's better balance between the martial and spellcasting classes. Of course, spellcasters that alter the very fabric of reality are always better than just swinging a sword. But martial classes are better balanced.
Now as I said, I didn't play 3.5. But this is just what I gather from my brief research.

Thanks for the info. Personally i never thought 3.5 was hard to understand, but i guess when your 11/12 and own/read every book you can get your hands on and play it that way for several years, there is not much to not understand... lol
You can read the Basic Rules here on the site : clicky.
This contains a lot of information from the Player's Handbook and some from Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual. The actual books have more options but the "rules" of playing are there for you to use, free. A read of this can give you a good idea of what the game is like.

If you just want a feel for how the game flows, I would second nakandu and say check out YouTube. There are plenty of different options to check out, from one shots from the fine folks here at DDB, to people playing the official modules (spoiler alerts there, obviously) to things like Critical Role where you can watch professional voice actors play each game of entire campaigns.
I hope you're able to find a good group, either IRL or with Roll20, etc.
I play exclusively 5e and it is pretty easy to wrap your head around once you get the basic rules down. Having talked to other people who have played 3.5, they just said that 5e is more simple and more nerfed.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
