Right now it looks like a plain text editor to type in one continuous document. Is that all there is for a DM to use to create?
I get that all the references are there, but a single text document is pretty basic. Am I missing something?
This is just a rudimentary start to the campaign manager there are more tools to come but they will be added post release. I know they have said there is an encounter builder and a initiative tracker in the works and I do believe a few other tools were mentioned. If there is something in particular you would like to see now is a good time to bring it up as they look at all ideas. You guys find the steering wheel on that boat yet?
I would like to see something a bit more elaborate in this area... something akin to a Campaign Wiki like Obsidian Portal, where the DM can separate his campaign into clear sections giving public access for anyone on dndbeyond site to view certain general wiki areas while others limited to just campaign players and private areas just for DM eyes or with the mind to reveal to players or public at a later date.
Some examples of sections could be hold geopolitical data for his campaign world/area, maps, descriptions etc. another could be general basic player character info and general npc area and so on. I feel the more dndbeyond does to promote world building campaigns and provide/encourage DM's to everyone with some basic access... to view these DM Campaign Wiki's the more ideas will spread as players and users of the site get more value and content in seeing what others have created or are developing. Making homebrew content especially being able to submit spells, monsters and items (to make it public) is a good start but why not open it up even further?
This could also help in expanding campaign followings for those who record their campaigns to twitch or youtube, etc or for pbp campaigns that are run here on the forums. Hopefully some of these suggestions are already in the works... if so would be great!
If the DM has enough content purchased on DnDBeyond, then they can give access to that content for the players (up to 6 PCs) for their PC creation and management. The DM can then view and edit the player's PCs that are linked to the campaign.
I know this works because a DM gave me access to the full set of books in creating and managting a PC in this manner.
I apparently have not bought something that unlocks this ability yet. (probably the DMG, since I have only unlocked Starter Set (LMOP) Essentials Kit (Ice Spire) PHB and Volo's, and am not able to give full PHB access to a player's PC yet.)
Or maybe I have not found the button to give the player the access for the PC he has linked to my campaign.
Current status of the Campaign Creator is not much further advanced than allowing access to content and 3 note posting sections. This is appx 2.56 years after the original post for this thread... I was searching for posts that might help in determining just how to let the players in my campaign access the full PHB.

Master level subscription would fit that bill.
