What if I have 7 characters created and stop my subscription?

As explained in this thread's title, would the system freeze my exceeding character (the 7th one) and allow me to modify it when I sign up again for a subscription? Or it would just disappear permanently from the system if I stop my subscription?

You'd pick which one to lock and get it back when you renewed your subscription.
