I've tried the copy function of a created character, but is there any way to paste it as a new character? If not then what's the purpose of the copy function?
Copying a character creates a new version of it in https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-characters. You don't need to paste it anywhere, it should just appear in your collection of characters
Note - If you're not a subscriber and already have 6 characters, you cannot copy another one.
