As you might remember, I am working on creating a Yuan-ti Pureblood character., which I discuss more on my last post I am trying to think of some real-world sayings that this character might remember being told by his mother when he was young. The ones I have come up with so far, as follows.
Don't play with your food.
When his mother caught him playing peacefully with some human boys his age, she chased the boys off and dragged him back into the house, where she scolded him by telling him that he was not to play with his food. Something that every parent might say to their kid at one time or another, only this mother means it literally.
What do you want for dinner?
While walking through the local market in the late afternoon, his mother would often ask him what he wanted for dinner. An innocuous question, until you realise what exactly he was choosing from.

Do you guys have anymore that I might be able to use?
Cheers

"You want to stay a Pureblood forever?" To chastise improper behavior which would make one unworthy for consideration as a candidate for a higher form of transition
"Snakes...why did it have to be snakes?" For when the parent is just exasperated after a long day of killing people and dealing with an energetic child.
Hi, everyone

Boldly go
"Snakes...why did it have to be snakes?" For when the parent is just exasperated after a long day of killing people and dealing with an energetic child.
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master
Don't keep all your eggs in one nest.
Obvious variation on ...in one basket.
Couple of snake-themed aphorisms from Shakespeare:
"It is the bright day that brings forth the adder, and that craves wary walking."
"Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it."
And of course "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child!"
Wizard (Gandalf) of the Tolkien Club
I love all of these. Thanks, everyone.
