Ok, we're currently only planning on using this to tie together D&D Beyond and our Discord server. We're a crew of nearly 50-year-olds and hoping to keep the new-fangled learnin' to a minimum ;)
Ok, question Numero UNO:
I've managed to get it to the point where someone with an open character sheet here on DnDB can roll their dice and I see it on Discord.
Now, as the DM, how do I manage that on my end?
If I want to practice some level of transparency, how would I roll dice on DNDB and have it show up on Discord?
From the details page of the monster(s) you want to use Beyond20 for it will add the little dice icon next to everything in the stat block that you can roll for. You can even click the "Display in VTT" button to display the monster's picture in chat. The only challenge is that you would have to have each monster in a separate tab or bookmarked so you could easily switch between them. As far as rolling monster initiatives and adding them into an initiative tracker I don't know of any way to integrate Beyond20 with any popular Discord bots such as Avrae. You would have to roll each of the initiatives and then track the turn order manually.
